Jazz vocalist Mia Nicholson sings with a sincerity that catches listeners off guard — and leaves them thoroughly enchanted.
A professional writer as well as a singer, Mia values lyrics as much as music. That’s why she loves the songs of the 1930s, 40s, 50s and 60s — an era of musical excellence and intelligence when, she says, “the quality of the lyrics was equal to the quality of the compositions.” But she’s not a revivalist. Mixing reverence with an equal measure of modern sensibility, Mia delivers her tastefully chosen songbook with such freshness and insight it would be easy to believe these tunes were recently written just for her. Winsome yet sophisticated, Mia combines her uncontrived sound with a polished presence that invites audiences to appreciate the meaning of every phrase.
Mia’s repertoire features works by Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, Rogers and Hart, Hoagy Carmichael and Johnny Mercer, Harold Arlen, David Frishberg, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Paul Simon.

COVER CHARGES apply when Wilfs features live music in our bar area – Wednesday – Saturday, 7:30-11:30 pm. Quite simply, the cover charge is paid directly to the artists that you are enjoying each night at Wilfs. When you join us for drinks or dinner and plan on leaving before the music starts, we won’t ask for a cover charge. That does not mean you can come early and avoid paying the cover – we want to make sure our musicians are paid for their performance. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask your host or server.
